Let’s be honest — removing wax off your board is the worst job in surfing. Whether you’re re-waxing, fixing a ding or selling a board, the first step is always the same: hunched over the deck, hacking away with a little plastic comb, wax under your fingernails and half of it still smeared in the impressions when you give up.

Gareth Malys got sick of it. An Australian surfer, he figured the most common job in surfboard maintenance deserved a proper tool — so he spent months designing and refining one, and got it right.

The ergonomic shape makes Wax Fresh far easier to hold than a comb, and the sharp working edge runs the whole way around. Scrape in any direction — up, down, sideways, circles — with bugger-all pressure. It digs wax out of deck impressions and around dings, and has a board stripped completely clean in a few minutes.
